We have partnered with successful feeding projects from Knysna to Atteridgeville, KZN to Limpopo, played an essential role with food delivered during Covid and to disaster areas.
We have been key in the entire feeding process from fundraising, to food production, distribution and on the ground feeding.
e’Pap is our affordable, scientifically-developed, nutrient-dense instant porridge.
It’s made from high-fibre, wholegrain, precooked maize, soya beans and sorghum, is naturally gluten-free and is rich in Omega fatty acids. We also add essential vitamins and minerals to the mixture, in a form that the body can easily recognise, absorb and use.
Just 50g a day is enough to give an adult human the nutrients they need for a better chance to live the life they want.
ePap’s remarkable journey began amidst circumstances that touched the lives of many. It was a time when compassion and dedication converged to address a pressing need. Rose, a dedicated volunteer distributing parcels, discovered that conventional food packs lacked essential nutrients. This realisation led to a transformative collaboration that would shape e’Pap’s mission.
In 1999, a dietician returned from Paris with insights that would set the stage for change. Conversations between Rose, a business consultant, and Basil, a surface particle chemist, sparked the idea of creating a solution to this nutritional gap – even before the age of widespread supplementation. Basil embarked on an exploration that spanned the globe, connecting with a maize expert to find a solution tailored to Africa’s needs.
However, the journey was far from over. The truth surfaced about the nutritional void caused by the refinement of maize – a staple in South African diets. Empty calories offered little sustenance, leaving many malnourished and micronutrient deficient. The vision of providing wholesome nutrition led to stories woven around maize, sorghum, and soya – gathering knowledge from worldwide programs.
In 2000, e’Pap was born to respond to the developing HIV pandemic. The solution focussed on nourishing mothers and bolstering immune systems. The realisation that various micronutrients were essential marked the birth of e’Pap’s unique formula. This nutrient-rich blend became the backbone of e’Pap’s pursuit to address malnutrition at its core.
Over the years, e’Pap’s impact expanded through partnerships with various NPO and Faith based organisations. The commitment to affordability and accessibility fuelled the creation of a distribution network that reached even the most remote areas, supporting those in need.
Today, e’Pap stands as a catalyst for change, challenging industries to prioritise nutrition and people, alongside profit. Our journey continues with a call for a national shift toward wellness. Our passion for nourishing minds and bodies drives us to push boundaries and retain inherent nutrition in industrial food production. We envision a future where every meal contributes to a healthier society, free from the burdens of preventable diseases.
Our story is one of transformation, compassion, and empowerment. We invite you to join us on this journey as we reshape how we eat, live, and thrive. Together, we can rewrite the health and well-being narrative for ourselves and future generations.
